The CRS Law Collective is more than just a law firm — it's a vision born out of mutual respect, shared values, and a deep commitment to serving people better.
In 2024, long-time colleagues and like-minded professionals from Carson Law and Rinaldi Silva LLP came together under one roof. What started as conversations between peers — sharing ideas, problem-solving tough cases, and reflecting on how to do law differently — grew into something more: a vision for a collaborative legal experience that puts clients at the center.
We asked ourselves: Why work apart when we can do so much more together?
The CRS Law Collective was created to eliminate unnecessary duplication, improve efficiency, and most importantly, offer an elevated client experience. By combining our strengths, resources, and nearly 120 years of collective legal experience, we’ve built a practice where insight flows freely and every client benefits from the wisdom of multiple seasoned lawyers working in sync.

Meet The Collective
Matthew Caldwell
Matthew Caldwell is a lawyer with Carson Law whose practice includes Wills, estates, corporate law, and related client advisory work. He is known for his personable approach, strong communication, and ability to help clients feel comfortable when dealing with legal topics that can otherwise feel complicated or intimidating.
In estate planning, Matthew assists clients with important decisions about Wills, powers of attorney, estate structure, and long-term planning. These conversations often involve family, finances, personal wishes, and future uncertainty. Matthew’s role is to help clients understand their options and move through the planning process with confidence and care.
Matthew also supports corporate clients and business owners with practical legal guidance. Whether helping with corporate documents, business planning, or related legal needs, he focuses on clear explanations and solutions that make sense for the client’s circumstances.

Sarah M. Marshall
Sarah M. Marshall is an associate lawyer with Carson Law and brings more than 15 years of legal experience to her work. Her practice includes civil litigation, along with support for clients in real estate, corporate, and estate-related matters. Sarah’s approach is strategic, thoughtful, and client-focused, helping individuals and businesses navigate legal issues with clarity and confidence.
Litigation and dispute-related matters can be stressful for clients. Sarah understands the importance of practical advice, clear communication, and realistic planning. She works with clients to understand the issues, assess their options, and pursue a path that is aligned with their goals. Whether helping with a dispute, supporting a transaction, or assisting on a broader legal matter, Sarah brings a steady and professional presence to the client experience.
Sarah’s work also reflects the collaborative nature of The CRS Law Collective. Many legal matters do not fit neatly into one category. A real estate issue may involve a dispute. A business matter may require corporate and litigation insight. An estate issue may require both planning and problem-solving. Sarah’s experience allows her to support clients across these overlapping areas.

J. Ryan J. Carson
J. Ryan J. Carson is the founder and driving force behind Carson Law Office Professional Corporation. Since establishing Carson Law and joining The CRS Law Collective, Ryan has focused on building a modern, client-centred law firm rooted in practical advice, accessibility, and strong relationships. His practice has grown alongside the needs of individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and businesses throughout Burlington, the GTA, the Golden Horseshoe, and across Ontario.
Ryan’s approach to law is direct, personable, and solutions-oriented. Whether assisting with a residential real estate transaction, advising a business owner, helping a family plan for the future, or supporting clients through more complex legal decisions, Ryan emphasizes clarity and confidence. He understands that clients are often coming to a lawyer during major life moments — buying a home, starting or selling a business, protecting intellectual property, or preparing estate planning documents — and he works to make those moments feel more manageable.
Ryan’s background reflects a unique combination of legal training, business awareness, and community-minded leadership. He studied Kinesiology at Acadia University before attending law school at the University of Windsor, and his career has always reflected a strong interest in people, relationships, teamwork, and long-term planning.
Through The CRS Law Collective, Ryan continues to lead with a focus on practical service, collaboration, and forward-thinking legal support for clients who want clear advice and trusted guidance.
James W. Carson
James W. Carson is the Intellectual Property Division Leader at Carson Law and brings over 40 years of legal experience to the team. His practice focuses on intellectual property law, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and related protection for ideas, brands, inventions, and creative or commercial assets.
For business owners, entrepreneurs, creators, and innovators, intellectual property can be one of the most valuable parts of their work. James assists clients in understanding how to identify, protect, and manage those assets in a practical way. Whether a client is developing a new brand, protecting an invention, building a business, or seeking guidance on IP strategy, James offers experienced advice grounded in decades of legal practice.
James also plays an important mentorship role within Carson Law and The CRS Law Collective. His experience supports not only clients, but also the broader legal team, helping ensure that intellectual property matters are approached with care, precision, and long-term strategic thinking.

Vince A. Rinaldi
Vince A. Rinaldi brings extensive legal experience to The CRS Law Collective, with a practice focused primarily on real estate law and estate planning. Licensed to practice in both Canada and the United States, Vince offers clients a depth of knowledge developed through years of work in private practice, municipal legal counsel roles, and the title insurance industry.
Vince’s background gives him a strong understanding of the practical, technical, and risk-management aspects of real estate transactions. He has served as legal counsel at the Regional Municipality of Peel, worked with multinational title insurance companies, and held senior underwriting responsibilities before continuing his work in private practice. That experience allows him to provide clients with grounded, confident advice when they are buying, selling, refinancing, planning their estate, or dealing with property-related legal issues.
Clients and referral partners often value Vince’s calm, clear, and practical approach. He helps make complicated legal steps feel more understandable and less overwhelming. Paul J. Silva
Paul J. Silva brings more than 20 years of legal experience to The CRS Law Collective, with a practice focused on real estate, wills and estates, and corporate law. Known for his practical guidance, attention to detail, and steady client care, Paul assists individuals, families, and business owners through legal matters that often involve significant financial and personal decisions.
In real estate, Paul supports clients through purchases, sales, refinancing transactions, and related property matters.
